Thank you for this interesting topic. On my point of view the world is now moving to a Digital Era and new and emerging technologies pose a serious challenge for the future of employment. Rice Mills are with operations where they can be automated. As machines learn to accomplish increasingly complex production task, the concern arises that automation will wipe out the job opportunities. So, in the near future most of these activities will be automated in order to reduce the costs and increase the efficiency and productivity.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you Piyumi. Rice milling process will be fully automated in every rice mills in Sri Lanka near future, even in traditional rice mills not only in commercial ones. It is much efficient with high quality final out come. but primary process of rice mills like collecting paddy from farmers and transporting them to the rice mill premises will be on labors.
DeleteIt is very clear that how modern day HR methods have affect the recruiting process of traditional rice mills today. Do you believe other than for recruiting is it possible to use AI technology for the rice mill operations as well?
ReplyDeleteYes Malik, using AI to narrow a candidate pool or provide valuable data about a certain candidate group can add significant value and efficiency to recruiting. But I think the recruiter is able to introduce more quality job fitted candidates to the process than using AI, because AI will only help to find out paper qualified one not a practical one. As in Rice Mill industry we recruiting labors and machine operators, most of them are with the problem of having lack of knowledge, but we need to recruit one who having practical knowledge. e. However, the information AI can provide in seconds, than using human it takes much time, thereby becoming less efficient. The addition of data scientists and data analysts to the recruiting team may be the next step in the evolution of talent acquisition.
ReplyDeleteAgreed with the points in this article, in addition the facts that are been discussed, I wish to make your attention for Online recruitments as it is the new trend and cab be applied even for a Rice Mill operations.
ReplyDeleteIn recent years, online recruitment has been the trend & Indeed is one of the most well-known digital job boards.
Recruiting online, on the other hand, isn't easy. When everyone is vying to find outstanding prospects in such a crowded area, getting online recruitment correctly is an art—the perfect individuals are out there, but recruiters often feel like they can't contact them, so they end up with applicants that don't always meet the mark.
Even for a rice mill we can use the current technology and the same can be applied at the time of offering the job.
Agree with you Romesh, online recruitment is more practical todays as most of people are using new technology now a days. I think a company should have a good employer brand to make online recruitment successful. Most of miller not having a good employer brand, without having a strong employer brand I don't think people will attract to the jobs as you suggesting to posting on digital job boards.
